Jubilee - real name Jubilation Lee - is a Chinese-American foster kid from Beverly Hills, California. She had only been with her latest foster family for less than a year when her mutation kicked in, taking the form of lumikinetic energy blasts, which Jubilee called fireworks. Her foster father called the Mutant Control Division on her, despite the protestations of her foster mother, Martha. Overhearing their conversation about the decision, Jubilee questioned why she was becoming a mutant and ran away to the arcade at the mall. After accidentally using her powers to destroy the arcade game she was playing, Jubilee left the arcade and and bumped into Storm and Rogue, telling them to watch where they were going. Soon enough, a Sentinel that had tracked her down to the mall tried to capture her, but the X-Men saved her and brought her back to the Xavier Institute. Upon waking up, she tried to return home but was captured by two more Sentinels and Henry Gyrich and brought to a facility in Detroit, Michigan. The X-Men rescued her one more time, at which point she moved in with them at the Xavier Mansion and began her training on how to better control her powers.

Lumikinetic Explosive Light Blasts: Jubilee has the mutant power to generate explosive bright bursts of multi-colored energy from her hands that appear like fireworks. She can use this power to destroy electronics, break metal, and even push people away. These are essentially globules of energy that vary in power and intensity. The explosions can result in anything from a multitude of colorful sparkles, capable of temporarily blinding a person, to a fairly powerful detonation capable of smashing tree trunks or metal objects. Jubilee can also absorb the generated fireworks back into her own body without harm.
